When you look beyond the long lines of credits to any given movie, you get a rough idea about how much hidden work it actually takes to create one. Yet, there is some work involved in movie production, that not only is not hidden, but steps way beyond the realm of cinema, triggering trends and shifting waves in fashion. Susan Becker is one of those renowned costume designers, who helped creating an array of movie characters, shaping now iconic visual codes of the whole generation.

Probably best known as a designer for Joel Schumacher’s hits like ‘The Lost Boys’, ‘St.Elmo’s Fire’, and ‘Dying Young’, she left a stylish signature in many other creations. It’s enough to remember the standing out attire of Diane Keaton in ‘Baby Boom’, which gave work clothing quite a boost outside the screen too. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say, that for women in the office environment, Susan Becker pushed ‘dress for success’ to a whole new level.

Susan’s design taste and talent for pulling different elements together for a perfect look do not belong to the movie setting only: from artistic photo shoots of Annie Leibovitz, styling for individual celebrities to clothing lines sold exclusively at the boutique Maxfield in Los Angeles—any new project she embarks upon has a distinctive touch and potential power to shift fashion big time.
